I believe that healing anemia starts with understanding.
If you’ve been struggling with fatigue and low iron, you’re not alone. I’m here to help you connect to the root cause of your symptoms, restore your energy, and heal from within, without iron supplementation.
Welcome, I am Katie Fuchs, mother of three and health and wellness practitioner. My goal with creating The Anemia Connection is to inspire women to take back control of their health. I help women (and often their children) connect important dots as to what led them to chronic symptoms and fatigue and an eventual anemia diagnosis. Together, we lessen the overwhelm of what to do next which allows for change from within.
I completed my training with the Root Cause Protocol Institute in 2020 and I love helping women find balance within their body. Our mineral stores play a crucial role in our overall health, and when they’re off, it can lead to metabolic dysfunction and various symptoms of disease. A common misconception, especially for women, is that iron is low in the body and we need more of it. We’re all exposed to stress, and one of the key ways it affects us is by depleting our bodies of magnesium. Symptoms of illness are often directly linked to the stressors in our lives, which in turn create mineral imbalances. An anemia diagnosis usually means you feel tired and depleted and the common belief is that you don't have enough iron in your body.
But I want to challenge your thought process of being anemic and help you realize you most likely have too much iron. Supplementing with iron can create more harm than good by adding to an already overwhelmed system, leading to issues like inflammation and oxidative stress. True healing comes from addressing the deeper imbalances, supporting your body’s natural iron recycling process, and ensuring critical minerals like copper and magnesium (key minerals which manage your iron) are in balance. Simply using a ferritin marker is not a comprehensive way to look at iron in the body. By looking at your health through the lens of the Root Cause Protocol and pulling unique labs, we can get a comprehensive look at multiple iron markers to see the big picture of what's going on. We work together to restore balance, helping you get back to feeling your best.
Adrenal Support
Your adrenals are closely related to your cortisol (stress hormone) so we’ll dial in the appropriate support here to help you feel balanced and sleep better. This also helps with mood regulation.
Nervous System Support
You cannot heal when your nervous system is in fight or flight so we’ll get you out of this and into a proper state for repair and recovery.
Diet + Food guidance
This is more about looking closely at your relationship and thoughts around food, and less about telling you what you can and cannot eat. Our thoughts are powerful. I also offer meal and nutritional guidance during our time together and can share meals plans.
Mineral Balancing
Minerals run the body and this is a cornerstone to our work together. We’ll discuss the supplements that you need to be taking and also which ones to stop. Even with an anemia diagnosis, I can assure you that more iron is not the solution.
Hormone Regulation
There are fundamental things women should be doing in order to regulate and balance their hormones. We’ll optimize hormone regulation and trouble shoot what could be going wrong.
HTMA
We’ll run an HTMA hair mineral analysis panel on you and if you want more support then bloodwork can be added. These give great insight into how your body is managing your stress and minerals.
My Why
I didn’t feel well for most of my 20's. When my babies started going down that same path, I said enough was enough.
My eyes opened to the power of healing when I discovered that food really is medicine. For me, this was a relief because I could control what groceries we bought. The decisions we made inside the home did matter. Our health wasn't out of our control. Eating nourishing whole foods helped us to feel better and is a tremendous foundation of our health, but it wasn't quite enough.
